I'm fascinated with the idea of artifacts in a wild or natural setting. I love painting underwater scenes, and I love painting still life objects, and somehow, the two just go together for me.

A family member gave me some flowers for International Women's Day. The bouquet included some delicate pink roses, which just begged to be painted.

Started this painting with my artist friend Eve Larson. She supplied the pansies, the vase, and the little gold dish off to the side, and I supplied the china teacup and saucer. It's great fun to paint with a buddy-- artists painting together give each other energy and inspiration.  Took pictures of it, then finished it at home.

Both china and flowers are delicate, but they make an strong and lasting impression on our senses.
