"Ruby Heart" 6x6 inches, acrylic on panel. The pink is resistance red. There are resistance green dots too; they show up on the original; the scan records them as white.

Resistance paints are iridescent, and they also shift subtly in color when viewed from a different angle.

The Hatchling

Title: "The Hatchling"
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Genre: Figure, fantasy
Size: 8x10 inches

This is part of a series of the model in the same pose, holding something. In this one, she's embracing a young dragon, just hatched. Her hair, the dragon's tail, and the tree form a triad symbol. There are also triad symbols on her robe. The triad means different things in different cultures, such as mind, body, spirit; thought, feeling, emotion; creation, preservation, destruction; power, intellect, love. In my own thinking, a Dragon symbolizes creativity, power, and wisdom.

Calligraphy Heart: Love Conquers All

Title: "Calligraphy Heart: Love Conquers All"
Medium: Acrylic on canvas panel
Size: 6x6 inches
Genre: Abstract

Written and overwritten in calligraphy are 3 words: the classic saying,  "Love Conquers All. " Some parts are legible, some are not. Tiny hearts, dots, and iridescent touches add to the fun.

Work in Progress, Detail

Work in Progress. Acrylic on stretched canvas. The finished art will be 8x10; this is a detail. I started it from a live model and got the head/shoulders done. The rest of the figure will be finished from a photo.   Working from life provides visual information that a photograph doesn't; while a photo simplifies shapes and values, so each is useful to work from.

Red onion, eye, tears, surreal

What's So Sad About A Big Red Onion? 5x7 on canvas panel

This red onion was so gorgeous and so luminous, I was hesitant to paint it. Didn't know if I could do it justice. The eye is from looking in the mirror, and the tear, well tears are so wonderfully kitsch, I just had to do it. The idea of onions/tears appeals to me; this is the second teary onion one I've painted.
