Owl Be There
Title: Owl Be There
Medium: Acrylic on panel
Size: 6x6 inches
Genre: Animals
I wanted to portray some magic in this little owl study-- hence the purple, as well as focus on the patterns in its feathers. To echo that, I put some patterning in the sky. This little fellow has been entered into the "Patterns" challenge at Daily Paintworks.

Blue Buddies
Title: Blue Buddies
Medium: Acrylic
Genre: Fantasy
Size: 8x8 inches
I love monsters and Halloween is approaching. I also love pen and ink, but this isn't pen and ink. It's acrylic on canvas. BTW the tiny Bird is really the more powerful of the two, because he's the Monster's subconscious.

Stormy
Title: "Stormy"
Medium: Acrylic on canvas
Size: 8x8 inches
Genre: Animals
This is a study done for the Daily Paintworks equine challenge. I like the DPW challenges because they help jumpstart my creativity. My favorite way out of a creative block is to do small studies, or to sketch, or to doodle. This equine challenge was the perfect anwer for a bit of creative sluggishness.
For the palette I used thalo blue, cobalt turquoise, and yellow oxide plus black and white. I tried a tiny amount of cadmium red but it just didn't work so I left it out. There still may be a trace in the left ear.

About this painting: Our thoughts have a profound influence on our lives. Like the rope in the painting, a line of thought can seem to take on a life of its own.

Moonfish
Inspired by Daily Paintworks "Moon" challenge. I love portraying the Moon, especially a crescent moon. In this one I was trying for some visual puns, with the night sky in the shape of a big fish, and the clouds in the shapes of more sea creatures. Signed on upper left corner. 6x6 inches, acrylic on wood panel.
