Sketches from Sherwood Forest Faire

They were very good! And can each play several instruments. They also sang.

He's really good too. I bought one of his CD's.
He and the man in the armor (below) did a duet.

"Singing Man in Armor"

"Sheriff of Nottingham"
Fun to compare his Sherwood costume to that of
the real Texas sheriff, who was also at the Faire.

These are some of the sketches I did whilst visiting Sherwood Forest Faire, which took place in central Texas, near the town of McDade. They had Robin Hood, the Sheriff of Nottingham, several other characters from the Sherwood hood, plus lots and lots of other fun and colorful personages. To do the sketches, I sat and watched various performances the Faire offered. While they were moving around onstage, I tried to get a sense of their poses and their costumes.

Seems like a great day out and I will not tell the English that you are stealing their story. Love the sketches they are so full of life.

So fun! And so well done! Your experience with caricatures has helped you in getting the gist of the person down fast. Well, and your experience with gestures as well, of coursel

Thanks you guys. That was a really nice faire, just the right size. Big enough for plenty of variety and excitement, small enough to be laid back.

WOW!!!!!!!!! Your sketches and paintings are fantastic. I especially like the ink and watercolors. You seem to have a strong vision and style, I love it. Your blog is a pleasure and I'm bookmarking it so I can come back often.
