This composition works wonderfully, the arching tree in the midgroundleads my eye to the portrait.I'm curious, what does ACEO stand for? Best wishes on your bidding.
Thanks! ACEO = Art Cards Editions & Originals. They are the size of baseball cards, and were started in 1996 by M. Vanci Stirnemann, in Zurich, Switzerland. They have been big on ebay for several years, and I did some for a couple years, just for fun. This is one of them.More http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ACEO
I agree about the beautiful composition here. This is one of those pictures that I just look at and look at. The colors are perfect too.
That's a great compliment because composition is a struggle for me. Think I'll do a big one like it. Maybe doing small studies is a good way to go...think that's been already proven, eh what?Re. color, you can't go wrong with limited color. You'll always get color harmony that way. I frequently limit myself to one red, one yellow, one blue, plus black and white. The blue in this one is turquoise. I may have slipped in some cad orange, but I don't recall.
"Coin not included" -- that's great!I love it!Sometimes doing a very small painting is a good way to work things out before you go to the larger format.I'm finding that out myself.
Agreed Laura, & thanks!
