Cat portrait commission: 9 cats in acrylics

"Nine Lives" 12x12 acrylics on canvas. This was a commission that I finished several weeks ago. Six of the cats are still here, and three are in cat heaven. The client wanted it to have a whimsical, folk art look. The overall design looks like a paw print, which wasn't intentional but works. Another happy coincidence: the colors in the painting go perfectly her decor! She left the color scheme up to me, but I'm convinced she must have known that this was the right thing to do. Because her colors of her cats harmonize perfectly with the paint job.

This was lots of FUN to do, and if you want a pet portrait done, let me know:

This is indeed a fun portrait--and looks like it was lots of fun to do. It must have been a challenge to work out the composition--how to get nine cats (three in heaven--very funny) all in one composition. Looks great!

It looks really nice and you captured a lot of cat-nality. I'm not surprised her decor matches the cat color. We made a lot of decorating choices based on the color of our cat! My mom once got a chair re-upholstered. When she was picking out the swatch she said, "That one, cat barf color." The shocked clerk said, "M'am we call that oatmeal."

Heather, that's hilarious. Theresa, you are always talented with clever ideas in your composition, such as the 9 lives and the 9 cats. Congrats.

Thanks for everyone's comments! Composition is always my biggest challenge, so I was very glad to come up with something for this piece.
