Final finished version. I decided to go for more realism in the face and I like it way better. And from now on I'm letting the painting decide when it's finished--it knows far better than I do.
"Persephone's Rose" 5x7 oil on panel (canvas on hardboard).

I *like* the shading and real aspect of the face. I'm drawn to it more than the other features.
/thumbs up/
Thanks Rick! I'm glad the face dominates-- that means my composition has a strong focal point. I want the best combination of real and imagined that I can possibly come up with.
Lovely Theresa, it's really lovely and I love the white background under the rose! I hope to se more and more!
Thanks Lore! The gray shading on the white area is actually a subtle green, it shows up more in the original.
Wonderful wonderful work! I certainly understand your comment about letting the painting decide when it's finished!
Hi Shadow Eyes, thanks for your comment!
This painting still wasn't finished, and insisted on onnnne more little touch, where the white cloud was "kissing" the top of the figure's head. I extended the cloud behind the figure; now the painting is done (it told me so!)
